Abstract Foam Form
For our first exercise, we are prototyping elegant abstract forms. You will create a unique form out of expanded polystyrene foam (EPS). You will use the bandsaw, hotwire, drill press, and other tools as needed to create the rough form, but you will refine the form to a smooth finish by hand sanding the surfaces and edges. Your final forms should fit in a bounding box that is roughly 4" x 4" x 8"
After you have finished, you will photograph your form, and create Top, Front, and Side orthographic drawings of it at 1:1 scale with dimensions of the silhouette and the hole (including the hole's position). You will print the drawings/dimensions on a single 11 x 17 sheet of paper. When placed on top of the corresponding view, the model and the drawing should be exactly the same size.
The focus should be on the form and its edges not the surface texture. Therefore, you should smooth surfaces by hand with sandpaper, and you should also sharpen or soften edges by hand with sandpaper.

Your form must include:
- at least one rounded/soft edge
- at least one sharp edge (acute angle)
- at least one square edge (90 degree angle)
- at least one hole
- the ability to stand using a flat surface (as opposed to legs)
